Inktest - 5 Kinds of Black, Saltwater
The Toronto Ink Company
Using handmade inks and experimental ingredients, these limited edition, original works on paper explore the idea of meeting points. Land and sea, water and suspended particles, surface and depth, botanical and chemical, accidental and controlled. Ingredients range from the natural to the industrial, including gypsum, tree gum, casein, rust, grape vine ashes, copper oxidization, wine, wood dust, stinging nettle and shellac.
Part of a series of 100 original works commissioned by SOUVENIR for the Toronto Ink Company’s first exhibition for their 2016 Beach House Summer Concept Collection. Each of the Shore Collection lists ingredients used in the colour creation/ink making process. Beautiful as solo works or paired into diptychs/triptychs.
