The orb of warming sun blazing through haze, a sky scape coloured with the setting sun, a brilliant full moon in the early morning’s pale blue sky, these observable moments animate the visible world, remind us of cycles and remind us of our origins in deep time. Likewise, orbs animate our inner being — cells grow, inner illumination pulsates, our life force is expressed both within and just beyond the boundaries we recognize as our body and consciousness. The works just beyond, created with casein based paint and pastel on a hand made cotton rag paper convey both a sense of being visually restful and boldly optic.
Plenus, from the Latin meaning full, abundant, abounding, complete and tudo, a state or condition, gives us the word plenitude — a state of abundance, fullness, completeness. The painting series, plenitude, invites into a space of wholeness.
Created with casein, lime and pigment, its subtle layering reveals itself with time and shifts of light.
“Keep your face always towards the sunshine — and shadows will fall behind you.”
- Walt Whitman
